Title of work Water Curtain
Concept of the work In pursue of convenience, we consumed a large amount of energy and destroyed the environmental balance. As a result, we now face many problems.
A new lifestyle that maintains the balance of nature and prevents further destruction of the environment is necessary. Our predecessors had lived prosperous lives without burdening the environment by applying the principle of nature.
I think by assimilating the various innovative ideas of our predecessors into the modern life, we could maintain the balance between environment and convenience.
This time, I focused on an innovation in sprinkling water. By utilizing the heat of evaporation to cool the wind that blows into the room, one will feel cool during summer without using an air-conditioner.
I think that my idea of combining water-sprinkling and curtain can utilize the heat of evaporation in a way that matches the modern homes.
Judge's Comment Currently, the use of air conditioning in many cities consumes a great amount of energy and releases heat into the atmosphere. It would be wonderful it this Water Curtain could achieve both energy saving and a cooling effect. Furthermore, the work possesses a unique shape. However, I believe that there are still many problems which must be solved before actual use of the curtain is possible. The concept proposed by the designer uses the phrase "assimilating the various innovative ideas of our predecessors." I believe that a new proposal for the future could be created by combining design with the scientifically clarified knowledge of our predecessors.
