Title of work Life Badge
Concept of the work Earthquakes in poor regions of the world can cause devastating damage to schools due to shody construction. In such cases, it is often difficult to locate survivors buried under the rubble. This calls for a low cost solution to be implemented, to empower victims to call for help. In such poor regions, it is often difficult to implement expensive technological tracking solutions. The solution proposed is a low cost whistle integrated into school badges, which children wear in school all the time. In times of need, children can use it to whistle for help. LifeBadge can be tuned to a specific frequency which equipment / search dogs can be trained to identify, such that it can be located even at low volumes. A simple change in form to a simple object such as the school badge can possibly make a big difference tomorrow.
Judge's Comment High evaluation is given to the idea of increasing the possibility of rescue during disasters by integrating a whistle into the school badges of daily school uniforms worn by children. It is also good that the work is low cost. However, the custom of wearing school badges may vary according to countries and regions. Besides school badges, it may be possible to apply this idea to another item which children wear or carry on a daily basis.
