Title of work Minimal 3D Furniture
Concept of the work A cube of approximately 30 centimeters can be expanded into a volume several times greater.
We have been choosing to sprawl.
For a better future, we should propose and choose a more compact model.
By reducing space to the absolute minimum, wasteful byproducts are eliminated from all phases, from production to distribution, use, recycling and disposal.
More than anything else, the nested design creates a perfectly balanced beauty.
Judge's Comment It is a very interesting idea to create furniture which stores extremely compactly and which can be used as either a chair or as shelves. The prototype and presentation were very well organized and the concept was easy to understand.
Further examination is required regarding the relationship between this furniture model and items which will be stored.
An important aspect of eco design is a long lifespan. Although there are some actual furniture products which use cardboard, such furniture has limitations regarding long-term use. Since the furniture does not have a long lifespan, perhaps it would be best to propose use as children's furniture, etc.
