Born in Aichi in 1954. Professor of Meisei University, Department of Art and Design. Involved in a wide range of product design including items for everyday living such as MUJI brand's items, medical equipment, and automobile-related goods.
Also concentrating on product development and enlightenment of eco-design.
Chairperson of Japan Industrial Designers' Association (JIDA).
He has won numerous design awards, including the iF Best of Category Award for Ecology Design, (Germany) and the Good Design Award (Japan). Since 2003, he has been holding an "Eco-Design Exhibition" annually at Living Design OZONE, bearing the name of JIDA.
