International New Designers Workshop 2001
Discovering Innovative Communications: Revealing Information Hidden in the City

The Workshop 2001 aims to discover what we might thus call “urban unconciousness”. In the workshop, we will conduct fieldwork and then include it in design in order to elicit important questions. In the city lurk programs of veiled desires, concealed memory networks, the super-system that effects the urban infrastructure, the city’s secret physical style, and history and stories that have been tacitly transmitted and shared among communities. We will explore a city’s interior by pursuing these things, and both observe and survey them, in order to identify the appropriate questions.
