The 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Mizuki Shigeru “Hyakkiyako Exhibition: Yokai of Mizuki Shigeru”

Mizuki Shigeru (1922-2015), one of Japan’s leading manga artists. This exhibition was planned for the 100th anniversary of his birth. For the first time in his numerous exhibitions, this exhibition focuses on the back side of his creation of yokai (traditional Japanese monsters, ghouls, and goblins) paintings. Valuable yokai-related materials and manuscripts of manga works that he owns will be released. It takes a closer look at the work of Mizuki Shigeru, who respected the yokai world that his predecessors had built and developed into something even richer.
