Kosuke Kuze

Born in Nagoya in 1976. After graduating from Nagoya Zokei University of Art & Design in industrial design, Kuze joined Nagoya TV. Currently he is responsible for the film production of news programmes and documentaries.

Major work:
"The Challenges of Shino: a record of 550 days of a handicapped chimpanzee" (broadcasted in March 2004)
This is a documentary portraying the 550 days of Shino, a chimpanzee who had been surviving on her own with the right half of her body handicapped, until she was accepted into the herd of other chimpanzees. The plight of Shino struggling to assimilate into her community is a reflection of the current state of our society. By encountering various people through news production and reporting, I have witnessed the brightest moments of their lives and its opposites as well. Television is a media that conveys only a part of what is actually happening. This fact forces me to cope with how I could best frame and communicate these moments earnestly to the audience; because I believe that I can cast something, even if it were small, to our society through these images.
